You can request deletion of your POPPIFY account at any time, from inside the app. This page explains how to do it, what happens after you request it, and exactly which information is removed and which is kept. It applies to both Customer and Business accounts.
1. How to request deletion in the app
Deletion is requested from your profile inside the POPPIFY app:
- Customer accounts — open Profile, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account.
- Business accounts — open Business Profile, scroll to Danger Zone, and tap Delete Account.
You will be asked to confirm, and you may optionally give a reason. You can have one deletion request open at a time, and you can cancel a pending request from the same screen before it is reviewed.
2. Deletion is reviewed by our team
POPPIFY does not delete accounts automatically. A deletion request is reviewed and actioned by a POPPIFY administrator. This is deliberate: accounts on POPPIFY are tied to real orders and payments between customers and businesses, and a review step prevents an account being removed in the middle of an open transaction or an unresolved dispute.
You will be notified in the app when your request is approved or rejected. If a request is rejected, the reason is shared with you, and you can contact support or submit a new request.
3. What is deleted or anonymized
When a deletion request is approved, the following happens to your account:
- Your name is replaced with "Deleted User"
- Your email address is replaced with a non-functional placeholder that cannot receive mail and cannot be used to sign in
- Your phone number is removed
- Your profile photo is removed
- Your account is deactivated and you can no longer sign in
- If you are a business, your storefront is deactivated and no longer appears anywhere in the app — customers can no longer find it, browse it, or order from it
After this, the account can no longer be used, and your personal details are no longer associated with your activity on the Platform.
4. What is retained, and why
Some records are kept after your account is deleted, in a form no longer identified to you by name, email, phone or photo:
- Order and transaction records — including items, amounts, dates and payment-proof records. These are also the other party's business records: a business you bought from needs its own sales history for its accounting and tax obligations, and both sides need it if a dispute or fraud investigation arises later.
- Reviews you wrote — reviews remain on the business's storefront, no longer showing your personal details.
- Messages you sent — a chat has two parties. Deleting your account does not delete the other party's copy of a conversation you both took part in.
- Reports and audit records — records of trust-and-safety reports and administrative actions are kept so past investigations remain reviewable.
POPPIFY does not state a fixed retention period for these records, because the applicable recordkeeping and tax obligations for a marketplace transaction in Bhutan are not set by POPPIFY. Records are kept only for as long as they are needed for the purposes above. See our Privacy Policy for the full description of what we collect and how long we keep it.
5. If you cannot access the app
If you have lost access to your account and cannot reach the in-app Delete Account option, email us and we will handle your request:
Email: support@poppifyapp.com
WhatsApp: +1 672-971-9002 (WhatsApp only)
Please write from the email address registered to your POPPIFY account, and include your full name and, if you can, a recent order number. We may need to verify your identity before actioning a deletion request, so that nobody else can have your account removed. We aim to respond within 24 hours (Mon–Sat, Bhutan Standard Time).
6. Scope
This process applies to your POPPIFY account and the personal data POPPIFY holds about you, as described in our Privacy Policy. It does not affect records held independently by a business you transacted with, or by your own bank — POPPIFY does not process or hold payments, so your bank's record of a transfer you made is held by your bank, not by us.
